Everything you need to know about using Daghe for AI-assisted medical imaging screening in the field.

How It Works

Select Screening Type

Choose the imaging module for your patient — cervical VIA, chest X-ray, skin, retinal, or another enabled module.

Capture or Upload Image

Use your device camera to capture the clinical image, or upload from your gallery. The app guides you to the correct angle, distance, and lighting.

Get AI Results

Receive a POSITIVE / NEGATIVE / REFER classification with confidence band — powered by on-device AI or cloud fallback — then save the encounter.

Step-by-Step Guides

Starting a New Screening

Open the app and tap 'Screening'. Choose the module — for example Cervical Cancer Screening (VIA). Select the patient age band and screening reason (routine, referral, or HPV-positive triage). Follow the capture guide, then photograph or upload the image.

Reading Your Screening Result

The result shows one of three classifications: NEGATIVE (green — no abnormality detected), POSITIVE (red — finding detected, action required), or REFER (amber — uncertain or low-confidence result, escalate to supervisor). A confidence band is always shown below. LOW or REFERENCE ONLY confidence always overrides the result to REFER — this is a safety rule that cannot be turned off.

Saving an Encounter

After the result is shown, select the action taken (treated / referred / monitored / declined), add optional notes (stored on this device only — never uploaded), then tap Save Encounter. Encounters sync automatically when you have connectivity.

Working Without Internet

Daghe works fully without internet. The AI model runs on-device after first install. You can screen patients, save encounters, and review your case log with no connection. The app syncs automatically when you go online.

Changing the Language

Use the language selector (top of any screen) to choose from 19 supported languages including English, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, French, Swahili, and more. Your choice is saved automatically.

Classifications & Confidence

Every screening result shows one of three classifications, always paired with a confidence band.

NEGATIVENo finding detected. Continue the routine screening schedule as recommended.

POSITIVEFinding detected. Follow the recommended action for this module (e.g. refer for colposcopy).

REFERUncertain or low-confidence result. Escalate to supervising clinician before acting.

Confidence Bands

HIGHHIGH — Model is confident. Take the recommended action.

MODERATEMODERATE — Apply clinical judgment alongside the result.

LOWLOW — Always overrides classification to REFER. Do not act on the original classification.

REFERENCE ONLYREFERENCE ONLY — No image analysis was possible. Escalate immediately.

Safety rule: LOW or REFERENCE ONLY confidence always overrides to REFER — this cannot be disabled.
